Begin with a phone call
At the end of September 2017, studio night as usual.
A friend called to ask if a calligraphy lesson was available.
They are six Overseas Chinese who love calligraphy.
Our course was established before the brand.
So it sprouted in a public meeting room on the ground floor.
Our class need a name
Our classes realized the uniqueness of the traditional art course.
I began to choose a meaningful name.
In an afternoon dream, the name of the Dachu Studio appeared.
It was the same desk that had answered the phone call.
Just take a nap.
With this name, the future has a direction.
The sense of vitality has also increased.
Registered and established a brand
When aware of the vision of the art curriculum.
When realized the necessity of artistic communication between East and West.
Begin to set up a formal company and build the brand.
Let the brand concept support us to do more meaningful things.
Open the real Dachu Studio space
As word of mouth grows, more and more people guide and trust us.
We moved to a studio at the art school level.
We started more art direction and activities.
As a bridge to communicate
Keep the original heart.

The meaning of "Dachu"
Why is the studio called as Dachu?
Zhuangzi, the Taoist philosopher, lived in China over 2,300 years ago. He taught the Tao, or the Way, an approach to life that is based on effortlessness and harmony with one's nature.
One day, his friend Huizi said to Zhuangzi, “This old tree is so crooked and rough that it is useless for lumber. In the same way, your teachings have no practical use.”
Zhuangzi replied, “This tree may be useless as lumber, but you could rest in the gentle shade of its big branches or admire its rustic character. It only seems useless to you because you want to turn it into something else and don't know how to appreciate it for what it is. My teachings are like this.”
People who follow their nature and pursue their own path for art learning will be happier and more successful than leaners who try to meet goals set for them by others. A true art learner must be like the crooked tree of Zhuangzi, not seeking perfection of form, but by taking advantage of the surrounding resources.
Art learners at Dachu Studio are suggested to think about the crooked tree before they start their art journey. They should learn to take advantage of the art resources around, and most importantly, they should be able to enjoy themselves during their learning of art.
